Why Wing Snob ’ s flying ahead in the chicken wing world

There are a few things that evoke pure Americana . Route 66 . Bald eagles . Skyscrapers . The Statue of Liberty . Bruce Springsteen .

But what about food ? Many might say it ’ s the classic , all-American burger . A beef patty with plenty of cheese . Maybe some pickles . However , this position at the apex of America ’ s world-dominating fast casual scene is hotly contested – there ’ s the New York-style hot dog , for starters , and then a Southern competitor that ’ s won both the US and the world over : chicken wings .
From hit shows on YouTube featuring celebrities eating spicy chicken wings to one particularly famed ex-colonel with a moustache , the chicken wing has catapulted ( or flown ?) to the top of America ’ s fast casual food list . Whether a ‘ top ten ’ published in a national publication or an endorsement from a close friend , there ’ s no mistaking that people are going mad for chicken wings . One person in particular is Brian Shunia , who co-founded the leading , Detroitbased fast casual chain called Wing Snob . As the name implies , Wing Snob doesn ’ t serve ordinary chicken snacks – the kind you ’ d taste at your local bowling alley , for example .
